18Afterthesethings,Isawanothermessengercomedownoutofheaven,havinggreatpower,andtheearthwaslightenedwithhisglory.
2Andhecriedwithastrongvoice,saying,Isfallen,isfallenBabylonthegreat,andhasbecomethedwellingplaceofdemons,andtheprisonofeveryuncleanand[hated]spirit,andtheprisonofeveryuncleanandhated[beast/bird].
3Forallthenationshavedrunkofthewineofthefuryofherfornication,andthekingsoftheearthhavecommittedfornicationwithher,andthemerchantsoftheearthhavegrownrichthroughthemightofherluxury.
4AndIheardanothervoiceoutofheaven,saying,Comeoutofher,mypeople,thatyouallbenotpartakersofhersinsandthatyouallreceivenotofherplagues.
5Forhersinshavereacheduntoheaven,andGodhasrememberedherunjustdeeds.
6Repayᵈherevenassherepaidᵈandgivebackdoubleaccordingtoherworks,inthecupwhichshehasmixed,mixuntoherdouble.
7Howmuchshehasglorifiedherselfandlivedinluxury,somuchgivehertormentandmourning.Forinherheartshesays,Isitaqueen,andamnowidow,andshallinnowayseemourning.
8Thereforeinonedayshallherplaguescome,death,andmourning,andfamine,andsheshallbeburnedupwithfire,forstrongistheLordtheGodwhohasjudgedher.
9Andthekingsoftheearth,whocommittedfornicationandlivedinluxurywithher,shallweepandwailoverher,whentheyshallseethesmokeofherburning,
10standingafaroffforthefearofhertorment,saying,Woe,woethegreatcityBabylon,thestrongcity!Forinonehouryourjudgmenthascome.
11Andthemerchantsoftheearthweepandmournoverher,fornonebuystheirmerchandiseanymore,
12themerchandiseofgold,andsilver,andcostlystone,andofpearls,andfinelinen,[andpurple,]andsilk,andscarlet,andevery[object/woodˣofcitron,andeveryobjectofivory,andeveryobjectofcostliest[stone/woodˣ,andofbrass,andiron,andmarble,
13andcinnamon,andspice,andincense,andperfume,andfrankincense,andwine,andoil,andfineflour,andwheat,andcattle,andsheep,andhorses,andcarriages,andbodies,andlivesᵖofmen.
14Andyourripefruitthatthelifeᵖlustedafterhaspassedawayfromyou,andallthethingswhichweredelicaciesandbrighthaveperishedfromyou,andtheyshallfindthemnomoreatall.
15Themerchantsofthesethings,whogrewrichbyher,shallstandafaroffforthefearofhertorment,weepingandmourning,
16saying,Woe,woethegreatcity,thatwasclothedinfinelinen,andpurple,andscarlet,andgildedwithgold,andcostlystone,andpearl!
17Forinonehoursuchvastricheshavebeenmadedesolate.Andeveryshipmaster,andeveryonewhosailstoaplace,andsailors,andasmanyasworkthesea,stoodafaroff,
18andcriedwhentheysawthesmokeofherburning,saying,Whatcityislikethegreatcity?
19Andtheycastdustontheirheadsandcried,weepingandmourning,saying,Woe,woethegreatcity,inwhichallwhohadtheshipsintheseagrewrichbecauseofhercostliness!Forinonehourhasshebeenmadedesolate.
20Begladoverher,Oheaven,andyousaintsⁱ,andapostles,andprophets,forGodhaspronouncedjudgmentforyouonher.
21Andonestrongmessengerliftedupastoneasagreatmillstoneandcastitintothesea,saying,SowithviolenceshallBabylonthegreatcitybecastdown,andshallbefoundnomoreatall.
22Andthevoiceofharpers,andmusicians,andofpipers,andtrumpeters,shallbeheardnomoreatallinyou,andeverycraftsmanofeverycraftshallbefoundnomoreatallinyou,andthevoiceofamillstoneshallbeheardnomoreatallinyou;
23andthelightofalampshallshinenomoreatallinyou,andthevoiceofthebridegroomandofthebrideshallbeheardnomoreatallinyou:foryourmerchantswerethegreatmenoftheearth,forbyyoursorcerywereallthenationsdeceived.
24Andinherwasfoundthebloodofprophets,andofsaintsⁱ,andofallwhowereslainontheearth.
