18AndafterthesethingsIsawanothermessengercomedownfromheaven,havinggreatpower;andtheearthwaslightenedwithhisglory.
2Andhecriedwithastrongvoice,saying,isfallen,isfallenBabylonthegreat,andisbecomethehabitationofdevils,andtheholdofeveryuncleanspirit,andacageofeveryuncleanandhatefulbird.
3Forallnationshavedrunkofthewineofthewrathofherfornication,andthekingsoftheearthhavecommittedfornicationwithher,andthemerchantsoftheeartharewaxedrichthroughtheabundanceofherdelicacies.
4AndIheardanothervoicefromheaven,saying,Comeoutofher,mypeople,thatyouallbenotpartakersofhersins,andthatyouallreceivenotofherplagues.
5Forhersinshavereacheduntoheaven,andGodhasrememberedheriniquities.
6Rewardherevenassherewarded,anddoubleuntoherdoubleaccordingtoherworks:inthecupwhichshehasfilledfilltoherdouble.
7Howmuchshehasglorifiedherself,andliveddeliciously,somuchtormentandsorrowgiveher:forshesaysinherheart,Isitaqueen,andamnowidow,andshallseenosorrow.
8Thereforeshallherplaguescomeinoneday,death,andmourning,andfamine;andsheshallbeutterlyburnedwithfire:forstrongistheLordGodwhojudgesher.
9Andthekingsoftheearth,whohavecommittedfornicationandliveddeliciouslywithher,shallbewailher,andlamentforher,whentheyshallseethesmokeofherburning,
10Standingafaroffforthefearofhertorment,saying,Alas,alasthatgreatcityBabylon,thatstrongcity!forinonehouristhyjudgmentcome.
11Andthemerchantsoftheearthshallweepandmournoverher;fornonebuystheirmerchandiseanymore:
12Themerchandiseofgold,andsilver,andpreciousstones,andofpearls,andfinelinen,andpurple,andsilk,andscarlet,andallthyinewood,andallmannervesselsofivory,andallmannervesselsofmostpreciouswood,andofbrass,andiron,andmarble,
13Andcinnamon,andodours,andointments,andfrankincense,andwine,andoil,andfineflour,andwheat,andbeasts,andsheep,andhorses,andchariots,andslaves,andsoulsofmen.
14Andthefruitsthatthysoullustedafteraredepartedfromyou,andallthingswhichweredaintyandgoodlyaredepartedfromyou,andyouwillfindthemnomoreatall.
15Themerchantsofthesethings,whoweremaderichbyher,shallstandafaroffforthefearofhertorment,weepingandwailing,
16Andsaying,Alas,alasthatgreatcity,thatwasclothedinfinelinen,andpurple,andscarlet,anddeckedwithgold,andpreciousstones,andpearls!
17Forinonehoursuchvastricheshavecometonaught.Andeveryshipmaster,andallthecompanyinships,andsailors,andasmanyastradebysea,stoodafaroff,
18Andcriedwhentheysawthesmokeofherburning,saying,Whatcityislikeuntothisgreatcity!
19Andtheycastdustontheirheads,andcried,weepingandwailing,saying,Alas,alasthatgreatcity,inwhichweremaderichallwhohadshipsintheseabyreasonofhercostliness!forinonehourisshemadedesolate.
20Rejoiceoverher,Oheaven,andallyouholyapostlesandprophets;forGodhasavengedyouonher.
21Andastrongmessengertookupastonelikeagreatmillstone,andcastitintothesea,saying,SowithviolenceshallthatgreatcityBabylonbethrowndown,andshallbefoundnomoreatall.
22Andthevoiceofharpers,andmusicians,andofpipers,andtrumpeters,shallbeheardnomoreatallinyou;andnocraftsman,ofwhatsoevercrafthebe,shallbefoundanymoreinyou;andthesoundofamillstoneshallbeheardnomoreatallinyou;
23Andthelightofalampshallshinenomoreatallinyou;andthevoiceofthebridegroomandofthebrideshallbeheardnomoreatallinyou:forthymerchantswerethegreatmenoftheearth;forbythysorcerieswereallnationsdeceived.
24Andinherwasfoundthebloodofprophets,andofsaints,andofallwhowereslainupontheearth.
